Capture more emails on exit pop-up without offering discount

In this thread, Helen has shown different examples to capture an email without offering 10% off discount coupon.

Yes/No Pop Up

This is the pop up I use for my own brand Schoolyard Snacks.

After testing over 100+ pop ups, this has converted the best for us.

The reason this works is because instead of asking users for their email immediately, we ask for a micro-commitment first.

Gamification Pop Up

I love this example from Green Chef.

Gamification invites more engagements with a pop up, but you do tend to see lower conversion rates from those leads.

Test to see if the increase in engagements offsets the lower conversion rates from your leads.

Free Digital Content

Here’s an example from Kinobody.

What I love about free content is it doesn’t cut into your margin at all.

Plus, it provides an opportunity to educate and nurture your audience.

Free Gift with Purchase

Here’s an example from Cariuma offering a free pair of extra insoles.

This is another great idea if you don’t want to offer a discount.

Giveaway

Here’s an example from Ka’Chava.

Giveaways tend to invite more engagements (because everyone wants free stuff), but with lower conversion rates.

So again, you’ll need to test to see if the increase in engagements offsets the lower conversion rates for your brand.

Free Shipping

Here’s an example from Jones Road.

Free shipping can be an attractive offer without having to offer a straight discount.

This example is also great because it asks an additional qualifier question, which I’ve seen can improve conversion.

If you only take away one lesson from this post, it’s that you should TEST your pop ups!

There is no one size fits all pop up that works the best for all brands. It comes down to your traffic, your audience, your offer, etc.

Now get TESTING! 📈📈
